Mono Pond Dam

Project Hightlights:

Columbia, CT – The Mono Pond Dam is a 550 foot long earth embankment with a 16 foot wide primary concrete spillway and a 75 foot wide grassed overflow auxiliary spillway. Macchi Engineers completed the in-depth evaluation, design of repairs, permitting and construction administration services for the repairs of the existing dam. Work included an in-depth evaluation of the dam, a hydrologic and hydraulic study to determine the adequacy of the existing spillway, design and preparation of plans for repairs and permit submittal. Some tasks included miscellaneous repairs such as riprap armoring on a upstream slope, clearing of woody vegetation, armoring the upstream face of the dam, repairs to concrete spillway and masonry walls, and several maintenance items. Other responsibilities include subconsultant coordination for underwater investigation with the use of divers, and survey.
