Higganum Reservoir Dam

Project Hightlights:

Haddam, CT – The project included modifications and additions to the existing spillway to maintain the current outflows without overtopping the dam. The historic nature of the old spillway presented a unique design challenge. Our goal was to maintain the existing structure coupled with repairs that not only meet the structural and hydraulic requirements, but also did not detract from its historic value and appearance. Additional repairs consisted of seepage control, enhanced stability of the earthen dam, new drawdown facilities, and slope protection. Since the reservoir is used for recreational purposes vehicle access, parking, pedestrian walkways, and handicapped accessibility features were included in the project.
