Devil’s Hopyard State Park – CT Deep Bridge E118 Replacement Loop Trail over Eight Mile River

Project Hightlights:

East Haddam, CT – The bridge is 64.7 foot long x 12 foot wide timber covered bridge that has a main span of 34 foot and two approach spans of 14 foot each. Macchi Engineers provided the structural and civil engineering design services for the total replacement of the bridge super structure and approach areas to both sides of the bridge at Devil’s Hopyard State Park. The work included modification to access ways and parking lot drainage. Also provided the construction administration and inspection services. Some project goals include the preservation of the scenic / aesthetic view of the timber covered bridge and surrounding areas. Minimal long term maintenance and a cost effective superstructure replacement.
